
On September 12, 2023, the opening ceremony for the 2023 freshmen of the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data System Computing Technology at Shenzhen University was held in the lecture hall on the first floor of Zhiyi Building. All faculty members and freshmen of the laboratory attended the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Professor Luo Chengwen, Assistant Director of the National Engineering Laboratory.

At the ceremony, Professor Li Jianqiang, Executive Director of the National Engineering Laboratory, delivered a speech, warmly welcoming the new students to the laboratory family on behalf of all the faculty members, and encouraging them to cherish campus life and their time studying.

Laboratory faculty representative and assistant director Peng Xiaogang shared interesting stories from his studies and research, as well as the path he chose when facing life's challenges, encouraging students to face difficulties and setbacks positively and strive to do their best in the present.

Class Advisor Appointment Ceremony


At the ceremony for appointing class advisors, Academician Chen Xinkai and Professor Zhu Zexuan, Deputy Director of the National Engineering Laboratory, presented appointment letters to teachers Zhang Jun and Zhuo Wei, who will serve as class advisors for the new students in the coming academic year.
Laboratory Introduction

After a group photo, Professor Luo Chengwen gave a detailed introduction to the National Engineering Laboratory, covering its research directions, faculty, and landmark achievements, allowing all the new students present to gain a deeper understanding of the laboratory.

Ms. Liu Biwei, the laboratory's graduate affairs secretary, held a special session for new students on graduate academic affairs, providing detailed information on relevant matters.

Following this, faculty members from the Health Big Data Research Center, Interdisciplinary Big Data Research Center, Visual Big Data Research Center, and Industrial Big Data Research Center gave detailed presentations to the new students on their respective research directions, faculty strengths, and training objectives, showcasing their research achievements.
The National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data has enrolled 60 graduate students this year. This inaugural opening ceremony for the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data marks the start of the new academic year and is a milestone for the laboratory in further promoting scientific research and cultivating a new generation of research talent.
