Aug 28, 2024

To ensure the smooth operation of the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data System Computing Technology in the new semester and to inject momentum into its work, the laboratory held a new semester work conference and a National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) mobilization meeting on August 26, 2024. All faculty and staff members of the laboratory attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Deputy Director Zhu Zexuan reported on the NSFC grant approvals and the laboratory's acceptance evaluation. In the latest batch of NSFC projects for 2024, the laboratory received 9 grants, including 1 Excellent Young Scientists Fund project, 4 General Program projects, and 4 Young Scientists Fund projects. The number of approved projects continues to grow rapidly, demonstrating a clear upward trend in scientific research. The laboratory's acceptance evaluation is also progressing steadily. He stated that the growth of the laboratory's research projects is inseparable from the efforts of every faculty member, and that preparations should be made in advance for next year's NSFC applications to ensure the laboratory's healthy development.

Subsequently, Deputy Director Shen Linlin, Assistant Directors Peng Xiaogang and Luo Chengwen, and Director of the Technology Transfer Office Wang Li reported on the work goals and priorities for the new semester, covering personnel, undergraduate affairs, graduate affairs, and industry cooperation, respectively. The laboratory leadership team members expressed their commitment to actively participating in various research activities and teaching duties as the new semester begins. The new semester will welcome the laboratory's first cohort of undergraduate students. With the successful completion of the IEEE class admissions process this year, the subsequent undergraduate training and other related work will require the joint efforts of all faculty members.

Executive Director Li Jianqiang stated that the laboratory's various tasks are progressing smoothly and that the laboratory evaluation and acceptance process should be taken seriously. He also encouraged faculty members to focus on research, publish high-quality papers, and successfully apply for projects, dedicating themselves to the new semester with enthusiasm, improving themselves, and collectively promoting the laboratory's development.

This meeting provided direction and clarified goals for the new semester. It is believed that with the joint efforts of the university leadership and all faculty and staff, the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data will create a better working atmosphere, boost morale, work diligently, and jointly write a new chapter in the laboratory's development in the new semester.
