The National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data System Computing Technology successfully held a special lecture on postgraduate stress management and mental health.

To effectively improve the initiative and accuracy of psychological education, help graduate students master stress management and self-adjustment skills, and enhance students' psychological adjustment ability, on the afternoon of January 2, 2025, the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data System Computing Technology invited Cai Jiefan, a full-time psychological teacher from the Psychological Health Education and Counseling Center, to give a special lecture on psychological health to graduate students in the laboratory in the lecture hall on the first floor of Zhiteng Building. The lecture was titled "Using DNA-V Flexibly to Cope with Stress and Change".

At the beginning of the lecture, Ms. Cai led the students in a "finger exercise," guiding them to experience the stress of challenges. Through interactive questions and case sharing, she helped them identify their own "stress circles," recognizing the universality of stress and change, and also highlighting their own stress management experiences.

Based on the four core competencies of the DNA-V model—"Observer," "Advisor," "Valuer," and "Explorer"—Ms. Cai shared many practical stress management techniques to help students effectively manage themselves, accept their emotions, and set goals in their daily lives. Ms. Cai especially encouraged students to engage in mental exercises daily while learning to experience life with their bodies and senses; when caught in a mental struggle, they should learn to distance themselves from their thoughts, refocus their attention on the task at hand, and expand their experience through continuous experimentation.

Regarding the "sense of confusion" mentioned by the students, Teacher Cai guided them to deeply reflect on their values and intrinsic motivation through a vivid chessboard game. Through interaction and discussion, she guided the students to discover what they truly wanted, understand their desired value direction, and bravely move towards that direction.

At the end of the lecture, Ms. Cai introduced the psychological service resources of the Psychological Center and encouraged students to take initiative in helping themselves, be brave in seeking help, learn to use resources such as the 24-hour psychological counseling hotline and the psychological self-help AI mini-program, and actively participate in mental health activities such as group counseling and psychological workshops.

The lecture, through its rich content and diverse formats, provided practical methods for psychological counseling and strategies for coping with stress. Many students expressed that the lecture taught them more ways to relieve stress, gave them a clearer vision for the future, and helped them understand the importance of cherishing and engaging with the present moment. It is hoped that every graduate student can find their own balance in their busy academic life and be better prepared to face future challenges. The National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data will continue to focus on students' mental health, strengthen the implementation and promotion of mental health education, and provide strong support for students' all-round development.
