Four scholars from the National Engineering Laboratory were selected for the list of the world's top 2% of scientists (2024 edition).

On September 16, 2024, Professor John P.A. Ioannidis's team at Stanford University released the 7th edition of their list of the world's top 2% of scientists. This list selects the top 2% of scientists in various fields from over 7 million researchers, covering 22 fields and 174 sub-disciplines. The list is divided into two parts: the "Lifetime Scientific Impact Ranking" (1960-2023) and the "2023 Annual Scientific Impact Ranking." On September 3, 2024, the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data at Shenzhen University held its 2024 freshman commencement ceremony in Lecture Hall 2 of Huixing Building. More than 100 new students, like rivers flowing into the sea, gathered at Shenzhen University to embark on a journey together. To ensure the smooth commencement of all work at the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data System Computing Technology in the new semester and to inject momentum into the work, the laboratory held a new semester work conference and a National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) mobilization meeting on August 26, 2024. All faculty and staff members of the laboratory attended the meeting.
