In the latest announcement of the first batch of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) projects for 2024, the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data received nine grants, including one Excellent Young Scientists Fund project, four general projects, and four Young Scientists Fund projects, totaling 5.25 million yuan. During the centralized application period for 2024, the laboratory submitted 26 applications, achieving a grant approval rate of 34.6%, far exceeding the national average. Notably, Professor Luo Chengwen received an Excellent Young Scientists Fund grant, marking a breakthrough for the laboratory. Since its independent operation in 2022, the laboratory has received grants of 2 (2022), 5 (2023), and 9 (2024) NSFC projects, demonstrating a continuous and rapid increase in the number of approved projects and a clear upward trend in scientific research.
The laboratory has attached great importance to the NSFC application process, organizing mobilization meetings, numerous experience exchange meetings, and expert guidance lectures, effectively improving the quality of applications and the success rate. With the strong support of leaders at all levels and the joint efforts of all faculty members, the laboratory has achieved significant growth in both the number of grant applications and grants this year.
