To effectively improve the quality of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) applications for 2025, the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data held an academic report meeting and grant application guidance exchange meeting on the morning of January 7, 2025, in the Turing Conference Room of Zhizhen Building. Professor Wang Ling from Tsinghua University and Professor Xing Lining from Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology were invited to provide in-depth guidance and suggestions to applicants on their project proposals. Professor Li Jianqiang, Executive Director of the Laboratory, and approximately forty researchers participated in the meeting either in person or online. The meeting was chaired by Zhu Zexuan, Deputy Director of the Laboratory in charge of research.
Professor Wang Ling first delivered an academic report entitled "Schedule Optimization and Prospects of Industrial and Service Systems." He introduced the current research frontiers of optimization problems based on his own projects and elaborated on the principle that grant selection should follow "four orientations": both refining scientific questions and ensuring practical application. Following this, Professor Wang explained the paper "A Review of NSFC Applications and Funding in Automation in 2024," analyzing the application situation for various directions in automation in 2024 and offering suggestions on how to choose application codes.

During the subsequent exchange session, the two experts reviewed in detail the initial draft of the laboratory applicant's application, as well as previous applications and written comments, and offered targeted suggestions for improvement.

Through this exchange meeting, the laboratory's grant applicants gained many new insights into topic selection and application writing. During the peak application period, the laboratory will continue to provide application guidance and quality control to ensure a smooth application process for the 2025 National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) grants.
