Professor Low Kian Hsiang's lecture at the National University of Singapore was successfully held.

Dec 6, 2024

To foster a deeper understanding of data-centric artificial intelligence research among faculty and students, broaden their academic horizons, and inspire research creativity, the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data System Computing Technology invited Professor Low Kian Hsiang from the Department of Computer Science at the National University of Singapore to deliver a keynote speech entitled "Data-Centric AI Research @ GLOW.AI" on December 4, 2024.

Professor Low Kian Hsiang currently serves as Associate Vice-Chancellor (AI) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Director of AI Singapore (AI Research), and Deputy Director of the NUS AI Institute. He focused on issues related to Large Language Models (LLMs) from a data-centric AI research perspective. He detailed his team's four main research directions in data-driven AI: data issues in LLM inference, data attribution and source attribution in responsible AI, credible data valuation and incentive mechanisms in machine learning, and machine forgetting and data removal.

Through this report, the laboratory's faculty and students gained a deeper understanding of the central role of data in artificial intelligence research, as well as the importance of ensuring technological responsibility and ethical compliance while developing advanced technologies. The report not only provided the laboratory's faculty and students with cutting-edge research ideas but also inspired reflection on future research topics, injecting new momentum into the laboratory's subsequent scientific research work.
