On August 23, the "Second National Industrial Internet Innovation Competition," jointly organized by the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data System Computing Technology of Shenzhen University and other institutions, successfully concluded at the Yuanping Gymnasium of Shenzhen University. Two teams from our university won second prize.
The two-day Second National Industrial Internet Innovation Competition concluded on August 23 with an awards ceremony held at Shenzhen University. 173 teams from universities, research institutes, enterprises, and vocational colleges that reached the finals participated in the offline final defense after the online finals, and the awards for each track were determined.
The awards ceremony was presided over by Luo Junzhang, Vice President of the China Industrial Internet Research Institute. Experts and leaders, including Academician Yu Haibin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Wang Peng, First-level Inspector of the Information and Communications Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; Tian Chuan, Party Secretary of the China Industrial Internet Research Institute; Zhang Zhimin, Deputy Director of the Science Communication and Achievement Transformation Center of the National Natural Science Foundation of China; Xiao Yongzhong, Member of the Party Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Communications Administration and Director of the Shenzhen Municipal Communications Administration; Li Yonghua, Vice President of Shenzhen University; and Wang Hui, President of Shenzhen Information Technology College, as well as participating students, judges, and instructors attended the ceremony. The 2nd National Industrial Internet Innovation Competition 2024 was guided by the Information Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and hosted by the Expert Group of the Major Research Plan on Basic Theories and Key Technologies of the Future Industrial Internet. It was jointly organized by the China Industrial Internet Research Institute, Shenzhen University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen Technology University, and Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology. This competition focused on three major scientific questions of the future industrial internet, offering a full-element, full-process, and fully connected track for university students and faculty, as well as a vocational education track for students and faculty. It officially launched in June of this year. The finals included multiple technical challenges and case selection challenges, aiming to select outstanding algorithms, models, and solutions to address pain points in the industrial internet, vigorously promote the cultivation of professional and technical skilled personnel in the field of industrial internet, facilitate the transformation of resource achievements, promote industry-education integration and scientific-education convergence, and guide professional development and teaching reform.
In his address at the awards ceremony, Yu Haibin stated that the National Industrial Internet Innovation Competition is part of the National Natural Science Foundation of China's major research plan, "Basic Theories and Key Technologies of Future Industrial Internet." It focuses on key scientific questions concerning the future industrial internet, bridging the "first mile" of basic research and original innovation and the "last mile" of technology transfer and industrial market application. He expressed his hope that the competition would continue to uphold its original purpose of "promoting research, exchange, cooperation, and application through competition," further gathering top scholars and research teams in industrial internet research both domestically and internationally. He hoped that the participating experts would use the competition as an opportunity and platform to focus on the fundamental theories, methods, technologies, and open-source applications of the future industrial internet, increase technological innovation and application breakthroughs, and accelerate the development of industrial internet industrial clusters by integrating science and technology with industry through competition and discussions, thus contributing Chinese wisdom to the innovative development of the industrial internet in my country and the world.
In his address, Wang Peng stated that in recent years, my country's industrial internet has achieved remarkable results in its innovative development, growing from nothing to something, and from small to large. Infrastructure has been continuously strengthened, digital and intelligent technologies have been significantly improved, and its role in empowering transformation and upgrading has become increasingly prominent. It has entered a new stage of high-quality development and large-scale promotion, becoming an important force driving the formation of new productive forces. This competition closely integrates with the new trends and characteristics of industrial internet development, widely gathers resources from all parties, and features diverse tracks, resulting in a number of innovative, feasible, and highly valuable projects. He hoped that after the competition, all parties would effectively carry out work such as成果转化 (achievement transformation) and enterprise incubation, contributing to the development and growth of the industrial internet innovation ecosystem.
In his address, Tian Chuan stated that the significance of the competition lies in stimulating the potential for scientific and technological research and development and innovation vitality in the internet field, having a positive impact on promoting the construction of an innovative development ecosystem for the industrial internet. This year's competition optimized the competition questions, targeting the needs of major national development strategies, focusing on major core scientific issues, and strengthening application orientation; the scale and influence of participants have continued to expand, competition support has been continuously improved, a simulation platform has been introduced for the first time to improve practical capabilities, and greater emphasis has been placed on the application effects of projects.
Zhang Zhimin summarized the progress of major research programs on the fundamental theories and key technologies of the future industrial internet in recent years, and stated that the National Industrial Internet Innovation Competition is an attempt to explore new ways of reforming science and technology evaluation. He expressed his hope that the competition would strive to explore a new model of integrated industry-academia-research development that promotes research, cooperation, and exchange through competition, and replaces traditional evaluation methods.
Xiao Yongzhong stated that Guangdong Province has always adhered to the principle of prioritizing manufacturing, and regards the development of the industrial internet as an important means to cultivate strategic emerging industries and improve the level of digital and information application. Guangdong will continue to adhere to innovation-driven development, strengthen the digital foundation, promote industry applications, and drive the high-quality development of the industrial internet. The successful holding of this competition is a vivid practice of the industrial internet innovation development strategy, providing new ideas and directions for the digital transformation of manufacturing.
Li Yonghua, representing the organizer, delivered a speech. He stated that this competition is a national-level science and technology competition, and he hoped that the competition would further unleash the innovative potential of universities and stimulate innovation vitality. Shenzhen University has always been committed to cultivating high-quality scientific and technological talents and promoting scientific and technological innovation, accumulating a certain research foundation and relatively rich practical experience. It now has five national key laboratories, and its scientific research level is constantly improving. The fact that Shenzhen University was chosen as one of the organizers of this competition is a significant encouragement and impetus for its faculty and students.
Wang Hui stated that this competition played a crucial role in comprehensively improving the quality of independent talent cultivation and deepening the integration of industry and education. Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology will continuously strengthen the integration of industry and education, and the fusion of science and education, optimize its discipline settings and talent cultivation models, and strive to cultivate a group of high-quality technical talents in the industrial internet and related fields who are knowledgeable, technologically advanced, and highly skilled.
At the awards ceremony, guests presented awards to the winning teams, outstanding instructors, and winners of outstanding papers in each track. The winning teams then presented their project overviews. Subsequently, Li Jianqiang, Executive Director of the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data System Computing Technology at Shenzhen University, and Zhang Daoqiang, Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, completed the handover of the competition flag on behalf of the host institutions.
In the subsequent report session, Academician Yu Haibin delivered a special report entitled "Analysis of the Approaches to Empowering Intelligent Manufacturing with the Industrial Internet"; Zeng Peng, Vice President of the Shenyang Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered an academic report entitled "Human-Machine Collaborative Control and Cross-Domain Real-Time Optimization Based on the Industrial Internet"; Yang Chunhua, Vice Chairman of the Academic Committee and Dean of the School of Automation of Central South University, delivered an academic report entitled "Empowering Intelligent Manufacturing in Nonferrous Metallurgy with the Industrial Internet"; and Xie Yonghua, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Nanjing Vocational University of Technology, delivered a keynote report entitled "Exploring the Path to Enhance the Scientific Research Capabilities of Vocational College Teachers".
