The project "Research and Application of Artificial Intelligence Algorithms for Massive Engineering Trial and Error Optimization of Synthetic Biological Systems" focuses on three major scenarios: bacteriophages, prokaryotic microalgae, and immune cells. It utilizes artificial intelligence methods such as reinforcement learning, transfer learning, and meta-learning, combined with high-throughput automated construction sequencing and multi-spectral characterization technologies, to conduct in-depth research on the integration of artificial intelligence technologies with massive engineering trial and error optimization of synthetic biological systems.
From November 25th to 26th, 2023, the 2023 annual meeting of the National Key Research and Development Program of China, "Synthetic Biology," a key project led by our university, was held in the Turing Conference Room of Zhizhen Building, Shenzhen University. More than 50 people from the project teams of Shenzhen University (the lead unit), Sun Yat-sen University, BGI Genomics Institute (Shenzhen), Anhui University, Tianjin University, and Nankai University attended the meeting. Professor Zhi Li from the Science and Technology Development Research Institute of Shenzhen University attended and delivered a speech.
Professor Li Jianqiang, the project leader and chief scientist, introduced the overall progress and basic information of the project. He stated that since its inception, the project team has achieved a series of important research results, and the active communication and close exchanges among the various research groups have made positive contributions to the smooth progress of the project's research. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to all project team members for their hard work.
Subsequently, Professor Cui Jun from Sun Yat-sen University, Assistant Professor Chen Jie from Shenzhen University, Associate Researcher Liu Wenfeng from Shenzhen BGI Life Sciences Research Institute, Professor Xia Junfeng from Anhui University, Associate Professor Wang Fangzhong from Tianjin University, and Professor Liu Jian from Nankai University gave detailed reports on the research work and progress of their respective institutions. Professors Deng Li and Wang Jiangxin from Shenzhen University supplemented the reports with remarks on the project's research.
Finally, Assistant Professor Ji Junkai from Shenzhen University gave a representative report on the project team's research.
The successful convening of this annual project meeting not only provided a platform for research groups to exchange academic achievements and share research experiences, but also provided strong support for the smooth progress of the project. In the future, the project team will continue to strengthen cooperation and communication with various institutions to jointly promote in-depth research and make greater contributions to scientific and technological innovation and development in the field of synthetic biology.
