On November 17, 2023, a delegation including IEEE Fellow, Professor Yew-Soon Ong (Director of the Singtel-NTU Joint Laboratory for Cognition and Artificial Intelligence), Professor Feng Liang (Chongqing University), and Assistant Professor Wang Zhenkun (Southern University of Science and Technology) visited the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data System Computing Technology at Shenzhen University for academic exchange. More than 30 faculty members and students from the Engineering Laboratory and the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, including Professors Li Jianqiang, Zhu Zexuan, and Lin Qiuzhen, participated in the exchange.

Professor Zhu Zexuan first accompanied the guests on a tour of the engineering laboratory and introduced its development. Professor Yew-Soon Ong then introduced the development of the artificial intelligence discipline at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and related application scenarios on campus. He was invited to give an academic report entitled "Towards Sustainable Artificial Intelligence," discussing the evolution of artificial intelligence and its role in creating a sustainable future. He examined and summarized some representative AI practices, ethical considerations, collaboration with humans, and the essential capabilities necessary for achieving sustainable AI. Finally, he introduced the upcoming 2024 IEEE Conference on Artificial Intelligence, an international academic conference on artificial intelligence to be held in Singapore, and encouraged the faculty and students present to submit papers. The exchange was held in a relaxed atmosphere, with novel and informative content. The faculty, students, and invited experts actively participated in the discussions and benefited greatly. All participating guests expressed their anticipation for deeper academic exchanges and broader research collaborations with the National Engineering Laboratory.
