On November 2nd, the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data System Computing Technology held its first faculty-student forum of the semester. The forum was chaired by Assistant Director Luo Chengwen, with Director Li Jianqiang and other graduate advisors in attendance. New master's and doctoral students from the class of 2023 actively participated, sharing lunch with the faculty and discussing personal growth and campus life.
At the forum, Professors Li and Luo spoke first. They stated that the purpose of the forum was to help students better adapt to graduate life, understand the difficulties and pressures they might face, address their concerns, and enable them to achieve greater success and growth during their graduate studies.
Following this, the students engaged in a lively exchange. They shared their thoughts, feelings, and challenges regarding research, studies, and life. Some students shared their progress and difficulties in research projects, hoping to receive guidance and support from their professors; others discussed academic pressure and time management issues, seeking effective study methods and techniques; still others talked about everyday troubles and concerns, seeking advice and assistance.
The laboratory professors present listened attentively to the students' remarks and offered positive responses and suggestions. They shared their experiences and insights, answered students' questions, and encouraged everyone to maintain a positive attitude and bravely face difficulties and challenges. The symposium further strengthened the emotional exchange and intellectual interaction between teachers and students.
Through this symposium, the laboratory gained a better understanding of the students' thoughts and concerns, and provided a platform for students to take ownership of the laboratory. The National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data will continue to pay attention to the students' learning and living conditions, providing them with better services and support to help them achieve better results and development during their postgraduate studies.
